WELCOME TO ROYALE CINEMA LOUNGE!

At Royale Cinema Lounge, we’re redefining what a cinema experience can be. We are a retro lounge and film archive with an emphasis on cinema appreciation. Unlike traditional commercial theaters, we operate as a member lounge/club, meaning that we do not publicly advertise all of our screenings.

We are here to play movies every day and revive "dead formats". Our goal is to foster the appreciation for the art of filmmaking by making it a place to see all kinds of movies—not just the occasional new release.

LOCATION

We are on Langston Hughes Broadway & Historic Route 66 in Joplin, MO. Our building is one of the oldest in the city and has housed a cinema more than once, originally opening in August 1920.

WHY A MEMBER LOUNGE?

Royale Cinema Lounge was created to offer something unique to the Joplin community—a dedicated space to celebrate the art of cinema in a personal, curated way. We have two types of memberships to ensure everyone is welcome:

• Royale Insiders: Join our mailing list; $5 classics & re-releases / $8 new releases
• Royale Insiders+: $15/month for unlimited entry (including new releases)

DO I HAVE TO JOIN THE EMAIL LIST?

If you want to know EVERYTHING we’re doing each week, yes! We are NOT a traditional, commercial movie theater. We do this to comply with licensing and to play as many films as possible for your enjoyment. You can always pick up a printed calendar if you prefer not to get emails.

CONCEPT

We exist to create a community third-space where film fans can enjoy a diverse selection from every genre and era of cinema. We are not a restaurant or beer garden, but we do offer concessions, specialty drinks, and draft beers to enjoy both in the indoor and outdoor cinemas.

FILMS

Not everything we screen is for everyone. We offer films from every genre to ensure there’s something for every cinephile. Our microcinema brings the magic of film to our community every day for members, plus two daily screenings of new independent films.

VIDEO LOUNGE

We have a VHS film archive for you to watch any time you visit—old favorites or hidden gems. Come in, relax, and experience the timeless magic of VHS in our unique lounge.

CONCESSIONS
